This month's presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of the use of gas detection equipment in commercial buildings. Gas detection helps to serve vital roles in buildings including energy management, regulatory compliance, and ventilation control.  Scott will discuss the components of a typical system, current gas sensor technologies, and proper equipment selection.  Common commercial applications, including indoor air quality, toxic and combustible gases, vehicle exhaust, and refrigerant monitoring systems, will be reviewed as well.

Please join us at our ASHRAE February Lunch meeting as Merle McBride, Ph.D., P.E., an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, presents the development process regarding ASHRAE's publication, "Advanced Energy Design Guides." Dr. McBride will also explain how the recommendations were set and the energy savings that were achieved. Individual case studies that highlight key features will be presented.

ASHRAE has published the "Advanced Energy Design Guides" for a variety of buildings, including small offices, schools K-12, small hospitals, and healthcare facilities that achieve30% energy savings relative to ASHRAE Standard 91.1-1999. These guides provide simple prescriptive recommendations that can be used to achieve LEED certification in lieu of detailed simulations.

Industralized Units are defined as prefabricated components of construction manufactured off site, such as modules, panelized construction, and sectionals.  Examples of industralized units include prefabricated mechanical penthouses, modular offices, and spray booths.  This informative seminar will dive into the Code implications of these units and give you the opportunity to ask Michael your code questions.
