YEA March 19, 2018 Panel Discussion

Please join us for our final YEA sponsored course for individuals who are new to the industry. This session will feature a panel discussion format and will be held at 10am before the March Lunch and Technical Presentation.  
 
Young professionals from several local engineering firms will be sharing information about training and opportunities to get involved in our industry, offering early career advice, and answering questions from attendees.  See below for a list of some of the key topics the panel will cover.  The class will count for 1 PDH and will be free to members of the Columbus ASHRAE chapter and $10 for all non-ASHRAE members and all ASHRAE members who are not members of the Columbus Chapter.

Speaker: Mike Coyazo

Mike Coyazo is currently product manager for Ruskin’s commercial & UL life safety dampers. Prior to this he was regional sales manager for Central US & NE Canada.

He’s been with the company for over 18 years and has conducted numerous damper trainings for HVAC professionals including working with SMACNA's Building Inspectors

Program, and is an active member of NFPA.

ASHRAE Columbus January 2018 Event

 Health Care Design and Commissioning

The presentation will focus on lessons learned in delivering high performance sustainable design in health care during design and commissioning.  Examples will include commissioning issues with a hospital in Texas, as well as a project to upgrade to an Energy Efficient Central Plant within an existing health care facility.

Speakers: 

Raj Kappor is past member of TC 5.6 (Fire and Smoke management) and has actively participated in section 9 technical committees TC 9.6 (Healthcare), TC 9.9 (Data Centers/Clean spaces) TC 9.10.  Raj was one of the four team members who started the health care design handbook first edition for ASHRAE. He has worked as consultant with past ASHRAE President Don Bahnfleth on large University projects.

Monitoring Based Commissioning

The presentation will explore how the data that exists in various Building Automation Systems (BAS) can be analyzed and prioritized to provide operations staff with applicable solutions through the use of monitoring-based commissioning.  The MBCx approach combines innovative data collection technology with engineering expertise to maximize each building's energy savings potential. It utilizes continuous monitoring, fault detection, and building performance dashboards based on predictive analytics to provide persistent and continuous energy savings.

Donn Young has been a commissioning professional for the over 12 years and has been in the construction and facility service industries for over 40 years. He has managed a variety of commissioning project teams for both new and existing buildings.
