Please join us at our ASHRAE February Lunch meeting as Merle McBride, Ph.D., P.E., an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, presents the development process regarding ASHRAE's publication, "Advanced Energy Design Guides." Dr. McBride will also explain how the recommendations were set and the energy savings that were achieved. Individual case studies that highlight key features will be presented.

ASHRAE has published the "Advanced Energy Design Guides" for a variety of buildings, including small offices, schools K-12, small hospitals, and healthcare facilities that achieve30% energy savings relative to ASHRAE Standard 91.1-1999. These guides provide simple prescriptive recommendations that can be used to achieve LEED certification in lieu of detailed simulations.

Industralized Units are defined as prefabricated components of construction manufactured off site, such as modules, panelized construction, and sectionals. Examples of industralized units include prefabricated mechanical penthouses, modular offices, and spray booths. This informative seminar will dive into the Code implications of these units and give you the opportunity to ask Michael your code questions.

Presentation Summary:

Integration of new technologies in the field of magnetic bearings and high-speed motors with VFD’s, has opened up significant advancements in the sustainable efficiency improvements in centrifugal chillers. Centrifugal chillers are a major component in a building’s energy consumption. We would like to explain the technology, and how it relates directly to system performance improvements, sustainable oil-free operation, and lowering energy consumed.

Speaker Bio – Bruce Barrett, Product Sales Manager

Bruce Barrett is a Chiller Products Consultant for McQuay International, focusing on applied chilled water products and systems. He has over 18 years experience in HVAC, including manufacturing, distribution, marketing and strategic sales. Over 10 years of his professional career have been specifically focused on chilled water systems and new product development. Bruce holds a BS degree from Winona State University of Minnesota in Economics and Social Science.

heavy hors' d oeuvres, 2 drink tickets for beer or wine, unlimited soft drinks, and a cash bar. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase of prizes. Grand prizes include an iPad, a weekend getaway, and much more! On eventnight, you can 'Name Your Horse' for $20 a head! A live announcer will call the races throughout the evening.
